Prerequisite skill level: Beginner or advanced Beginner
This class is for beginners or for those who are still learning the basics. By the end of the 3rd week you will be able to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, read a pattern and will be ready to start a project. Advanced beginners can strengthen their skills, e.g. picking up dropped stitches and putting in lifelines.
Materials needed: 1 skein light colored, fairly smooth worsted weight yarn
Size 7 or 8 needles

| Beginning Lace |
Saturday January 10; 10 - 1pm $30 |

Take the mystery out of lace patterns. You’ll learn how to read lace patterns and charts and apply them to your projects. Tips and tricks on keeping track of your pattern. Guaranteed to take the mystery out of lace!
You will leave the class with the confidence to knit this “Grace Note Scarf" pattern.
Materials: For Class practice, any light colored aran or dk weight and matching needles. Cascade sock yarn or other blends work well and highlight the lace work. Needles to match, small plastic safety pin ring markers, scissors, pencil and paper, post it notes (large).

Learn how to do the basic cable from both a chart and written directions. After mastering the basic cable you will be able to go on to busy, branching, elongated, and elegant cables - whatever you desire. When you leave this class, no cable will intimidate you ever again. This class is great for those who are new to cables.
Materials: Worsted weight yarn, #7 or 8 needles, and a cable needle.

Fitting Your Knitting

Conquer the sweater fitting blues. This skills building workshop will give you control of your knitting projects. Learn how to read and understand a pattern. You will take your personal measurements and learn how to adjust a pattern to fit you.
Materials List: tape measure, lined paper for notes and a pattern you have had trouble reading or would like to adjust. As time permits we will review specific patterns.

Learn the basics of how to design any lace scarf as well as how to apply beads as you go to any lace pattern. This scarf pattern is deceptively easy. And the yarn is bambooyummy. I had to stop several times just to feel the fabric against my skin!
We carry some beads at the shop, however, Legendary Beads carries a much larger selection. You should buy #6 seed beads.
#7 Lace Needles (yes, #7), #9 steel crochet hook, small plastic safety pin ring markers, small black or white rubber ring markers, scissors, pencil and paper, post it notes (large).

Knitting Lace Triangles
You will learn how to choose patterns, make transitions from one pattern to another, and above all make a lovely shawl tailored just to your taste. With a little instruction and lots of inspiration, you will love the results!
We will be working from the book Knitting Lace Triangles by Evelyn A. Clark.
Materials: I recommend that you bring a practice yarn, dk or aran weight cotton/nylon or wool with needles to match. If you own lace needles, bring them. Ring markers 2 colors. Row counter.
